For three days, 4-6 February, the Spanish Institute Foz was the stage for important items addressed to the world of coffee.
This initiative turned specifically around the world of coffee, their preparation and tasting, while addressed in detail latte art, the technique required to create designs on the surface of the cappuccinos.
In terms of the most significant took place 1. º Championship International Coffee Tasting School of Hospitality, 6.º Barista Championship International Hotel School and 1. º International Championship Professional Baristas HEI Foz 2013 .
The first day took place, starting at 19 hours, 1.º Championship International Coffee Tasting Hotel School, attended by students from 15 hotel schools of Spain and Portugal, eager to display their creativity and talents in the preparation of coffees, espressos, cappuccinos and combined.
The level of attendance, students participated in the IES da Foz, IES Sanxillao (Lugo), Esengra (Ferrol), IES Fraga Eume (Pontedeume), the Paseo PIFC Pontes (A Coruña), PIFC Compostela, IES Vilamarín (Ourense), PIFC Carlos Oroza (Pontevedra), PIFC Manuel Antonio (Vigo), HEI Pravia (Asturias), PIFC Hostelería y Escuela de Turismo de Gijón, IES Peñacastillo (Santander), IES Fresnedo Fuente (Laredo) and Hotel Escuela Las Carolinas (Santander). On behalf of our country, was the Hotel School of Viana do Castelo.
On June 5, was held from 9 am to end of 6.º Barista Championship International Hotel School. In the afternoon, more precisely at 14.30, the champion of Spain latte art 2011, named Damián Seijas, gave a demonstration of his skill before the awards and diplomas.
On the last day, took place, also at 9 pm, the end of 1.º International Championship Professional Baristas HEI Foz 2013, which brought together fourteen baristas various provenance.
As illustrative of the prestige of the event, were present, among the sponsors, companies like Crem International, Cafento, Leche Pascual, Brita Profesional and Cafés Candelas.
In addition, on days 5 and 6, there was a space for tasting coffees at the initiative of Candelas, Cafento, Veracruz and Bou.
Edwin Chaverra Zuleta, a student at Naval Estación de la Grana (Esengra) of Ferrol, was the winner of 6.º Barista Championship International Hotel School.
Meanwhile, Esther Gutiérrez Gutiérrez, the Hotel Escuela Las Carolinas (Santander), earned first place in the 1.º Championship International Coffee Tasting Hotel School.
The meeting ended with a demonstration of acrobatics with cocktails, headed by Carlos Abilleira, Galician runner-up in 2012.
