Coffee production in India may not achieve estimations

India, third largest coffee exporter in Asia, may not achieve the forecast of a record crop next year after more monsoon rains in almost two decades had harmed beans and increased pest attacks.
Production may total about 317,000 tons next season, 30,000 tons less than the record 347,000 tons provided by Coffee Board of India in July, said the member of the state agency , Anil Kumar Bhandari . The harvest was 318,200 tons in the year that began on 1 October 2012.

Import of coffee that has cheaper and lower quality affects Mexican production

The abandonment of coffee production in Mexico is partly due to the fact that the Federal Government has allowed the entry of Central American coffee with lower quality than national "but more economic."
According to Obdulio Bandala Jiménez, large companies buy this cheap product, supplying their demand and stop buying Mexican coffee.

National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia organizes seminar

With the worsening of the outbreak of coffee rust in social and economic terms, the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia (NFC) will host a seminar to this reality, in order to share information and increase their visibility.
In 2008, Colombia had suffered the devastating effects of the outbreak of coffee rust. In direct response to recent outbreaks in Central America and Peru, the body promoted several initiatives, in late 2012, to help find solutions through the sharing of experiences and collaboration with colleagues from Central America.

Small coffee farmers from Honduras bet on environmental certification

As part of the initiative to improve systems of coffee production in the regions close to the National Park Celaque, Honduras, 72 coffee farms received certification from the Rainforest Alliance. The purposes of certification is to get the adoption and implementation of sustainable agriculture in a closed area and seek to improve the practices of grain processing in order to reduce the environmental impact.

Brazil welcomes International Coffee Week

In the city of Belo Horizonte, capital of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, will gather leading baristas and coffee tasters of the country in order to participate in competitions integrated Week International Coffee
This initiative, which will take place in the pavilion Expominas, 9-13 September include the International Fair 8.º Space Café Brazil, as well as the 50-year reunion of the International Coffee Organization (ICO), which brings together more than 70 countries.

Arctic accelerates shipping from Asia to Europe

Yong Sheng is a common Chinese ship that is about to make history. He is the first holder containers to sail from China to Europe through the Arctic instead of the usual route south (through the Suez Canal), reducing in two weeks time regular travel.
Yong Sheng, which weighs 19,000 tons and is operated by Chinese state-owned COSCO Group, left the port of Dalian on August 8 and should reach Rotterdam, the Netherlands, via the Bering Strait, on 11 September. The journey time is 35 days, and through the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean Sea it usually takes 48 days.
