Coffee exports from Uganda have increased 32% in 2012/13 season to 3.6 million bags of 60kg, the highest level in more than 10 years, said the Coffee Development Authority of Uganda (UCDA) this Wednesday. According to the state, favourable weather boosted crop yields, leading to higher yields in crop areas of central, west and south.
In the previous cycle, the country exported 2.73 million bags. The season of coffee in Uganda extends from October to September.


It opened today in Milan, 'The Coffee Art Project' art competition born in London, which combines art and coffee. 200 representatives from all forms of artistic expression (painting, sculpture, photography, illustration, film, video) participate in this event. Each job in the competition must be accompanied by a brief description.
At the heart of this project is the coffee, the product that should inspire worked presented, valuing all those who daily live in the world of coffee and cafeteria.


The International Coffee Organization (ICO) announced on Monday it has increased by 0.5% its estimate for world crop product in 2012/13, leaving it at 145.2 million bags (60kg each) thanks to improvements in the coffee plantations in Brazil and Colombia.
The new estimate for this season, which ended on September 30th, indicates a volume 9.6% higher than what was collected in 2011/12, and represents the highest figure ever publicly disclosed this type of assessment, which is made from the harvest 1990/91.


In the academic study titled 'Social Trends and Prospects in the consumption of coffee in Portugal in 2021', prepared as part of a Masters in Consumer Behaviour in IPAM - The Marketing School, Tiago Oliveira, author of this research, presented very important conclusions.
For the elaboration of this thesis, the author had the participation and valuable input from a panel of experts in the field of coffee.


According to a new survey conducted by Mintel, the demand for iced coffee has grown. The habit of drinking hot coffee is changing, as consumers look for iced coffee as an alternative tasty and fresh for the whole year. Above any other country, the U.S. is joining forces in this new habit, especially in foodservice.


The Proexport Colombia governmental organization focused on promoting tourism, exports and investments in Colombia in several countries, highlights the claim of Fernando Pimentel, Minister of Foreign Trade of Brazil. That said the country intends to increase its exports of roasted coffee blends, while reducing sales and increasing green beans coffee purchases from countries like Colombia to offer their own blends.
