Newly completed, Alimentaria & Horexpo Lisboa 2013, held 14-17 April at FIL (Lisbon), took the coffee sector as one of its main protagonists.
To mark the World Coffee Day, which took place April 14, the AICC (Industrial and Commercial Coffee Association, a nonprofit organization, according to information posted on the portal Money, indicates that about 80% of the Portuguese drank coffee daily .
The same publication states that that association cites data from the ECF (European Coffee Federation) for 2011, that estimate a consumption of coffee in Portugal in the order of 4.7 kg per person/year, compared to 6.4 kg of the European average. For AICC, coffee is the second most traded raw materials, surpassed only by oil.
In order to celebrate this day and to promote coffee consumption, the association has undertaken under the said event, more precisely in Coffee Lounge Experience, a cocktail based on coffee. Besides several baristas demonstrations, was present at the same location, a nutritionist who explained about the myths and benefits of coffee.
