The International Coffee Organization (ICO) review markets participation and the participation of each coffee group and their respective weights for calculation of indicative prices, starting this month.

The 50th General Meeting of ICO (International Coffee Organization), held in Belo Horizonte (Brazil), 9-13 September under the International Coffee Week, showed significant progress in supporting producers, to improve the price of the product.
"We made significant progress during these four days of the meeting, on support to small producers in emerging countries. Additionally, the International Coffee Organization considers favourable policies recently adopted by the Brazilian government on the regulation of the flow of crops," said Robério Silva, executive director of ICO.

According to figures released by the International Coffee Organization (ICO), coffee prices continued to fall in August, despite a slight boost at the beginning of the month.

The rust, a fungal disease that recently dropped to 30% of some coffee plantations of Andean countries and Central America, should not disturb the production of Arabica mild this season, said officials and experts during the ICO (International Coffee Organization) conference in Belo Horizonte.
Colombia and Mexico, two major producers in the region, should not suffer significant losses for the disease that can destroy entire crops if not properly controlled by spraying, making green fruits fall from the trees.

The executive director of the International Coffee Organization (ICO), Robério Silva said on Thursday, 12, in Belo Horizonte, that the other producer countries, such as Colombia, should follow Brazil's example and adopt measures to support spatial coffee supply in order to reduce pressure on prices. The final document of the meeting held by the countries members of the ICO along this week in the state capital shows concern for current prices, which are the lowest since 2009. "Any initiative to balance supply and demand is always welcome," he stressed.

The International Coffee Organization (ICO) released on Friday, the stock of world exports sector. In the first ten months of the 2012/2013 harvest, exports grew 3.6% compared to the same period of the previous crop and reached 94.48 million bags. Brazil has better performance than the global average and shipment of Brazilian production is 7.4% higher than that observed in the previous harvest.

By comparison with the previous month, the average composite indicator price rose 1.2% to 118.93 cents / lb, remaining, however, the second lowest level since September 2009. This increase was due primarily to the performance of Robusta, which had an increase of 4.9% compared to June.

The International Coffee Organization (ICO) argues that national governments should support producers, where the market price is below the cost or risk cripple the production of grain. In monthly report, the Organization emphasizes the "socio-economic importance of coffee as a main source of income, especially in rural areas, means that every effort should be made by governments to support their producers."

The world coffee production in 2012/13 is expected to increase 7.7% from a year earlier to 144.5 million bags, said on Wednesday the International Coffee Organization (ICO).
A frost in the main world producer, Brazil, in July should not cause damage to production in the main producing areas in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, stressed the OIC.

Considered the second most traded commodity in the world, coffee presented in last June, a sharp fall in prices. Total exports for the first eight months of coffee year 2012/2013 (October to May) came to 75.7 million bags, compared with the 72 million bags recorded in the same period last year.
