The ICO (International Coffee Organization) released this Monday (01) that global shipments of coffee totalled 9.75 million bags of 60 kilos in the month of May. The volume is smaller than the registered in the same period last year, when were exported 10.32 million bags of the bean.
In contrast, world exports of coffee, in the first eight months of the season 2012, from October to May of 2013, presented an increase of 5.2%, totalling 75.69 million bags. In equal period 2012, were shipped 71.96 million bags.
Still according with the organization, exports of Arabica coffee reached 68.22 million of bags, in recent 12 months until the month of May 2013. The number is larger than the boarded in the previous year, 64,90 million bags.
Likewise, shipments of Robusta coffee presented an growth and passed of 39.45 million bags for 45.03 million of bags, in same period.
