ICO has slightly increased its estimate for world coffee production in 2012/13 to 144.7 million bags of 60 kg, the organization pointed in the monthly report. The number surpasses the previous estimate of 144.6 million bags of coffee and represents a 6.9% increase in crop year.
ICO reiterated its expectation that the coffee rust in Central America will reduce production in the region around 2.3 million bags.
The world consumption for calendar year 2012 was estimated at 142 million bags, up 2.2% in the year.
