Ecuador exported 1.57 million 60-kilogram bags of coffee in 2012, up 1% compared to the volume of 1.55 million bags exported in the previous year, said the Association of Coffee Exporters from Ecuador. The export figures include Ecuadorian Robusta, Arabica, green, soluble, roasted, among other types. The revenue from coffee exports also grew 1% from a year earlier to US$ 273 million.
In December, Ecuador exported 148,379 60-kilogram bags, down 4% compared to the same month of 2011, but up 12% from November. Revenue from shipments of coffee last month fell 15% compared to December 2011, to US$ 25,610,000.
Of total exports in 2012, 415,686 bags were sent to Colombia, 304,510 bags for Germany, 292,777 bags for Poland and 214,500 to Russia. Ecuador produces coffee mainly in the provinces of Manabi, El Oro and Los Rios in the coastal region, of Sucumbios and Napo in the Amazon region, and Loja and Zamora in the mountain region.
